Partners in Pharmacy was founded by Dr. Kimberly J. Metcalf, a licensed pharmacist, pharmacy executive, and educator. Dr. Metcalf received her B.S. in Pharmacy from University of Connecticut, Master of Science in Business from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Doctorate in Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Metcalf has over 15 years of pharmacy leadership experience in roles such as a Clinical Coordinator and Pharmacy Director. Her expertise in various clinical settings range from long-term care, acute-care, and medical academic teaching centers, with the majority of her tenure being in practice settings such as Hospital for Special Care, Waterbury Hospital, and currently UConn Health. She continues to serve in roles such as Adjunct Assistant Professor and member of the Dean’s Advisory Board for UConn School of Pharmacy, and member of the Investigational Review Board at UConn Health.
Dr. Metcalf’s leadership experience includes the successful development of multiple PGY1 residency programs, operational redesign with closed unit perpetual inventory technology, 340b program integration with optimization of drug cost savings and revenue generation, and the intertwining of technology with safe medication practices.
Dr. Metcalf works with industry leaders, pharmacy leadership, and hospital executives to create conditions for change and growth in order to achieve their potential, high performing operations at a level of excellence. Her work experience extends beyond the pharmacy walls, having served as Senior Director of Hospital Operations at UConn Health.
Dr. Metcalf’s deep expertise with pharmacy automation and IT integration has led to significant operational cost savings, while building out the facility’s 340b business has realized unprecedented pharmacy-based revenue. Dr. Metcalf’s passion for medication safety and embracing the technology to promote pharmacy services and leverage resources is a cornerstone to her consultant offerings. A pharmacist and global business leader with over 25 years of experience as a transformational change agent, Dr. Metcalf has an extensive background in operational leadership.
